After slicing the car in two, it was time to loosen up all the c-clamps and spread the body halves apart 8"
This idea worked out really well. I marked all the cross supports so I could measure 8" on all of them. This left the body nice and square after it was 8" wider.
After I was sure everything was nice and square and lined up and that I wanted it to be 8" wider I tack welded all the cross supports so nothing would move on me. I also added a piece of angle iron to the top of the windsheild frame to keep it from bowing in.
Here is a view of my garage with the widened 69 convertible and the untouched 66 hardtop
After I had all the cross supports welded up and I was sure nothing was going to move on me I lowered the body down onto the chassis.
