The following pictures are of us testing our new proto-type hovercraft the Sport Crusier. The pictures are from both 7-2-05 and 7-7-05. The first time we took it out we only had a few small bugs to work out. We couldn't get full throttle and there was play in the rudders. After the first outing we bypassed the governor on the thrust engine and we were able to get full power and we fixed the steering problem. We then took the hovercraft back out on the 7th and there was a world of difference, and we had no further problems. The hovercraft is 12.5' long and 6' wide and has a 27hp kohler for thrust and a 10 hp tech. for lift. We are planing on building a second Sport Crusier from which we will devlope a detailed set of plans from. Please feel free to email me(at bottom of page) with any comments or questions you may have.

In this picture you can see me at the controls taking off.

On our first test we were only getting about 22hp out of the thrust engine, but we still had no trouble planing out around 550lbs plus 6 gallons of gas and took it easily to 30mph. It took about 30-40 seconds to get over hump, but it did work well, although you could feel the lack of power.

Throught the after noon we easily hit 30mph, and it was still accelerating, but we didn't want to push it to hard, plus the steering had a lot of play in it.

Here you can see a couple of pictures of the sand covered hovercraft. It hasn't rain much at all here in central IL and the beach was completly dry, so we kicked up a lot of sand.

Here you can see my dad at the controls for the first time. By the time he got to drive it the steering was really getting loose and it was getting hard to hold a straight line.
