UH-18SPW Control Surfaces Page 2: Rudders, Elevator, & Stationary Panels




Here is the elevator partialy sanded.



Here is the elevator with one side completly sanded.





This is the stationary elevator panel completly sanded.



Here is the sanding block we on the elevator and statioinary elevator panel used it also has dry wall sanding screen on it.



This is about how the tail will look after it is done, but the rudders will be tapered.



They are hinged together with nylon strips. In the plans it says to use 1"x4" kevlar strips but Bob Windt, the designer, said that they break and to use the nylon instead.





Here is my dad holding up one of the rudders for our 18sp up to the rudders on our10f.



This how we are going to be vacuum bagging every thing that we fiberglass. At first we tried to do it like the gerneral construction book that came with the plans said, but the first time it was really wrenkly so we tried using a thiker plastic and it left air bubbles under the glass so we just used the normal 4 mil platic with no breather so that we could see the wrickles and bubbles and get them out and it turned out great.
